    Scope

ASTM A325 is the standard specification for heavy hex structural bolts in heat-treated steel with a minimum tensile strength of 120/105 ksi. A325 bolts from Glaser and Associates are available in two grades, type 1 and type 3, offering different mechanical and chemical properties for specific applications. ASTM A325 also covers the American Association State Highway and Transportation Officials Standard AASHTO M-164.

These bolts are designed, manufactured and tested to comply with the standards set by ASTM A325 for chemical composition, tensile strength, elongation, yield strength and rotational capacity.

    Grades

    • Type 1 bolts are manufactured from medium carbon, carbon boron, or medium carbon alloy steel.
    • Type 3 bolts are manufactured from weathering steel.

The properties tables below provide more information on the differences between the grades.

    Applications

ASTM A325 heavy hex bolts from Glaser and Associates are used in structural connections. The bolts have shorter thread lengths than standard hex bolts and the heavy hex head provides a large load-bearing area for added strength in the application.
